Engaging College Students in

Postsecondary Transition Coaching Roles

The Partnership for Student Success has released a new brief, Engaging College Students as Postsecondary Transition Coaches through Local Partnerships. Combining research, best practices, and specific examples from three Partnership for Student Success member organizations, this resource explains the rationale and benefits to higher education institutions, schools and districts, and college students in utilizing college talent to provide post-graduation planning support to youths in schools. Whether they are interested in enrolling in a postsecondary institution, finding a career, or entering into national service, young students can benefit from having a college student as a coach and mentor by their side.

A special thank-you to Hampton University Upward Bound, Advise NC at NC State, and University of California – San Diego Early Academic Outreach Program for having programs that serve as excellent examples of the many ways postsecondary transition advising can be run by colleges and universities interested in investing in the future of America’s youth.
